What is advocacy and how can I become involved?
Advocacy is defined as active support of a cause, idea or policy. Would you like to be an advocate in the mission to eradicate breast cancer? Here are some ways you can become involved:
Visit the national breast cancer advocacy group web site at www.stopbreastcancer.org. This group is known as the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC). By accessing this site, you can learn what is being done about breast cancer on a national level .
Become a member of the NBCC for $35.00 annual dues.
Become a member of the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnati Legislative Alert E-mail network. Periodically legislative issues arise that require our voices to be heard by our representatives in government. By becoming a member of this Network, we will send you emails asking you to contact your local congressperson and urge them to support our cause.
Write to your congressperson and tell them how you feel about the issues that affect the breast health of women in our community. Click here to find out more.
Join us at the National Breast Cancer Coalition's Annual Advocacy training and Lobby Day held in Washington, DC each spring. The BCA does offer a limited number of partial scholarships. If interested please contact us at info@bcacincy.org.
Become a member of the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnatis Advocacy Committee. Responsibilities would include: organizing our annual trip to Washington, DC, contacting and visiting local congress people, and getting involved in local issues that affect the breast health of women in our community.
If you are interested in becoming an advocate, contact us at info@bcacincy.org
